Today I am going to explain how to use Baidu Webmaster Tools to mitigate negative impact on SEO after the site revamp.
Step 1: Register Baidu Webmaster Tool with the new site/domain
If you are planning to use a new domain name or subdomain name for the new site, you need to set up a Baidu Webmaster Tool for it by verifying the site with a line of code on the your HTML code, like you do on GWT. Once that’s done, you will have a new Baidu Webmaster Tools to manage the new site.
Step 2: Submit new site to Baidu Site Revamp Tool
Baidu Site Revamp Tool, which has been included in Baidu Webmaster Tools since Apr. 2014, works on the three different levels, i.e. domain, subdomain and directory, depending on which level you are to manage your site. With that, SEO practitioner can submit the address of new domain, subdomain or directory, to which the existing ones need to be redirected, to Baidu. Usually it takes Baidu a month to complete the processing of 301 direct, with Baidu Revamp Tool the process will be shortened.
Step 3: Managing Crawl and Indexation via Baidu Crawl and Indexation Tool
After you submitted the redirect through Baidu Site Revamp Tool, you need to keep a close eye on how the new site is being crawled and indexed by Baidu through Baidu Crawl and Indexation tool, with which you can identify which pages are not able to be crawled and indexed, so you may react quickly by submitting the individual URL to Baidu again, or fix issues, like server connection, DNS, ISP, etc.
It’s not easy to manage the site migration or revamp without sacrificing SEO performance on Baidu, however it will definitely help you to overcome the negative impact if you know how to leverage the tools provided Baidu.
